The
club has a strong emphasis on development, both sporting and personal, and
carries its own constitution which is founded upon the principles of teamwork
- respect and communication. The coaching ethos is focused on the lessons
that team sport can bring to real life and is diligently maintained by a
team of hard working coaches who, week in and week out, strive to enforce
high standards of safety, learning and skill development. The coaching team
currently comprises of four adults and is often assisted by more senior
players who gladly offer their expertise and assistance. |

As
well as the individual sporting skills that are necessary for the game of
roller hockey, each athlete is taught the values of communication, support,
positive re-inforcement and above all respect - for themselves, their team-mates
and an opponent. Each player is shown to be as gracious in victory as in
defeat, to take the good with the bad, to face head on any potential problem
and confrontation and lastly to get up after getting knocked down. It is
a coaches objective that each person carry these lessons with them into
adulthood. |

Safety
is a key issue in such a high speed and contact and collision sport. Players
wear full kit and are taught how to stop, fall, control their skating and
how to both make and recieve contact to minimise the risk of injury. In
the unlikely event of more serious injury, on-site first aid is provided
by the centre and a local hospital is only minutes away. |
